LTU and EDGE retreats are a special way to reach out to our young people. They can be powerful, life-changing events for teenagers. A retreat is much different from a youth group meeting. It is a time to get away from the routine of school, work, and parish responsibilities.

The retreat provides an environment for grappling with faith issues and learning new ways to pray. Some young people have never experienced group prayer outside of Mass and have never experienced liturgy in a group of less than four hundred people. The retreat is an opportunity for them to celebrate their faith in new and different ways.

A retreat is a great opportunity to build community in the youth group. Retreats offer teens a comfortable setting for examining and talking about their relationship with God. It is a time to deepen that relationship and learn new ways to communicate with God.

Relationships - with peers and with parents - are a constant concern for young people. Retreats, by translating the message of Christ into action in our everyday living, can give young people options for daily decisions on how to relate to others.
